U.S. Air Force Skeet Team SSgt. Andrew McNamara came home to Vermont to visit his grandmother and returned to Hawaii with the 2013 Underhill Big Gun honors!
McNamara is originally from Orange, VT and called the Barre, VT skeet fields his home town club until joining the US Air Force where he has taken his shooting to the next level. McNamara is currently the Captain of the U.S. Air Force Team and all of at the Underhill Rod and Gun Club thank Andrew and his teammates for all they do for the United States of America. McNamara won both events and took home the HOA purse with a combined score of 195.
I had the pleasure to shoot behind Andrew which helped me finish as Runner-Up in all events.
Taking home HOA Third Place was New Hampshire shooter, Steve Livingston.
Twenty-two shooters shot the event under warm, clear blue skies. The highlight of the afternoon was a five way tie for 12 Gauge 3rd Overall. Larry Litke was the last one standing after a shoot off between himself, Steve Livingston, “Bear” Gath, Terry Dunbar and Robert Trombley that went long enough to get the attention of those on the porch!
Congratulations Larry and thanks guys for a great shoot off!
Junior shooters Brandon Willey, Amanda Preston and Michael Sheltra joined us for the twelve gauge event and finished respectively in that same order. Lady shooters Peggy Meunier, Linda Wright shot well and finished LY1 and LY2. Other mentionable 12 gauge results came from Paul Armstrong, “Ozzie”Osborne, Nils Englund and Mark Bantis who each shot a 93 and either won or shot off to win their classes. Retired Military shooters Ted Meunier, Ken Pittman, Nils Englund and James Hughes all shot well as well.
Join me in congratulating NH shooters Mike Keech and Joe George for winning their classes in the Doubles event and also Mark Bantis for a strong 3rd Overall in Doubles. I also want to congratulate a special shooter, Jim Moffatt from Craftsbury, VT for posting a good Doubles score that helped him with his Class HOA win.
The Underhill Rod and Gun Club is a great destination for anyone who would like to explore Vermont. The club will be revitalizing the Fall Foliage Shoot which is an open shoot that has a long history of being a notable New England shoot. We invite everyone to join us, but sign up early! We are located within 30 minutes of Stowe and Burlington, both of which are great destinations in the fall.
