 NSSA Skeet - Hamden, Connecticut
As a first time visitor I was impressed with the club and the volunteers working the shoot. The lawn was freshly cut, targets were steady, and the referees were at the top of their game. Visitors to the club felt welcomed, as club members, both shooters and non-shooters made everyone feel right at home.
The shoot was well run with squads going out at designated times. The background for the most part is trees. Targets thrown were all orange. All machines were of modern design and well maintained. The club was not open on Friday.
The driveway leading to the club and the parking lot is paved, and all fields have walkways. The club also has trap, 5-stand, 100 yard range, archery, and a pond. The price for a round of skeet or trap for members is $2.00.
We stayed at the Day's Inn, just three
minutes south of the club. It was clean and decently priced,
but it's located right along the road with no setback, and you will
hear the traffic unless the room heater or air is on. A visit
to the Wentworth Homemade Ice Cream establishment just down the road
from the club is highly recommended. Saturday evening we ate at Sergios Pizza and Restaurant and had to wait fifteen minutes for a table, but well worth the wait.
