Ontario Provincials ready to roll

Date: 03-Aug-12

Today was final setup and configuration of the 3S shoot software and making sure all computers were networked correctly.

Hamilton Gun club was also hosting its annual "Shell Shoot" with a turnout of over 100 shooters.

Many of the shooters took advantage of the OPTA's early setup and classified, squaded and even paid for the Saturday, Sunday and Monday events.

Ontario's Paul Shaw was doing the classifying assisted by OPTA Vice President Bert Blackburn.

Lots of excitement from the shooters and everyone is looking forward to a great Ontario Provincial tournament

They are calling for hot humid temps, 40C (triple digits for our American neighours), don't forget the sunscreen, hats and liquids.

Couple of photos attached to give you a lay of the landscape and give you an idea of the background.

Subject: Ontario Provincials Day 1

Date: 04-Aug-12

For the first event (singles), there were eleven perfect 100's recorded. For Handicap top score was three 98's And finally the doubles recorded five 98's

Singles and doubles are carry-over and winners will be decided tomorrow and Monday.

Handicap winners were decided in shoot-off and I will post those results tomorrow.

Overall shooter turnout numbers are up. But the heat and humid conditions are taking its toll on some shooters.

Subject: Ontario Provincials Day 2 & 3

Date: Tue, Aug 07

Hello: Another successful Ontario Provincial has come and gone. Weather was great, had one short delay due to lighting and rain for 1.5 hrs on Sunday during the singles champoionships.

I wanted to try and post results and photos each day, but, things got busy and we all had some late nights.

I am still waiting on the officail results for all events and will update the OPTA website ASAP.

What I can report is that in the Handicap championships, we recored two 99's, four 98's and five 97's. Excellent targets thrown and presentations as you can see with the results.

A young sub-junior recorded one the the 99's and a another Ontario shooter recorded the other 99.

The Ontario Handicap championships came down to the shoot-off, it went two rounds and the winner was Ontario Sub-Junior Matthew Van Haaren.

Congrats to Matthew and family.
